note: ballots cannot be forwarded; be sure to provide your current mailing address.

5. vote your ballot by mail

  • Completely fill in the oval using a black ink pen next to each of your choices on your ballot.
  • Put your ballot in the secrecy envelope.
  • put the secret envelope in the return envelope. include only your ballot in your envelope.
  • seal the envelope and sign your name on the back where indicated. (Important: The signature on record at the time your mail-in ballot is received by the Supervisor of Elections in the county in which your precinct is located is the signature that will be used to verify your signature on the voter certificate envelope. if you need to update your signature on file, please complete and submit a voter registration application to our office by checking the “update/change registration” box on the top line).
  • Print the date next to your signature.
  • Using the postage-paid certificate envelope, mail your ballot to us or drop it off at any Supervisor of Elections office or at the designated ballot drop-off location.
  • if you make a mistake, call (727) 464-vote (8683) to request another ballot.
  • you may receive up to three ballots ; however, only the first ballot received in our office will be counted.
  • If you have received a ballot by mail, but prefer to vote in your precinct, please take your ballot by mail to your polling place. the poll workers will mark the mail-in ballot as “canceled” and you will be allowed to vote a regular ballot at the polling place. If you do not bring your ballot to the polls, a poll worker will confirm that your ballot was not received before issuing you a regular ballot. If the election staff cannot confirm that your ballot has not been received, you may vote a provisional ballot and the canvassing board will later determine the validity of the ballot.
  • Please note that the later you return your ballot, the less time you will have to correct any signature deficiency, which is authorized until 5:00 p.m. the second day after the election.

  • Completely fill in the oval in black ink pen next to each of your choices on your ballot.
  • Ballots may be returned by mail or in person.
  • voted vote-by-mail ballots cannot be accepted at polling places.
  • Voters are encouraged to wait at least one week for their ballots to be returned by mail to the supervisor of elections’ office.
  • All mail ballots must be received by one of the elections three offices before 7:00 pm on election day. [f.s. 101.67(2) and 101.6103(2)]
  • You may drop off your ballot at any designated ballot return location throughout the county during designated dates and times. see the instructions in your ballot packet for more details.

Please note: The Canvassing Board begins tabulating ballots, in accordance with Florida law, after the first test of logic and accuracy. the first logic and accuracy test is generally 21 days before the election. ballots continue to be processed as they arrive through Election Day. the first results released on Election Day are partial results from the mail-in ballot. all other mail-in ballots are processed on election night.

Any person who distributes, orders, requests, collects, delivers, or otherwise physically possesses more than two election-by-mail ballots in addition to his or her own ballot or a ballot belonging to an immediate family member, except in the cases in which provided in f.s. 101.6105-101.694, including supervised voting in assisted living facilities and nursing homes as authorized under s. 101,655, commits a first degree offense, punishable in accordance with the provisions of f.s. 775,082 or 775,083.
