Connect DIRECTV to Wi-Fi over a wireless connection
Once you have secured If you have any of the above models, you can start the procedure.
You must make sure that all network related settings are set to default. Reset your network settings by turning on DIRECTV and going to the Internet Settings section in settings.
Once you do that, a message will appear on the screen asking you to reconnect to the Internet. You will need broadband internet and a wireless network router.
Now, click on the Advanced Settings option to access Advanced Settings.
Now select Reset Settings by pressing the Network Reset button.
A notification bar will appear indicating that the process will take several minutes and may interrupt any recording and TV sessions.

You can either press the DASH (-) icon, which will allow you to continue with the setup, or you can press the Back button to cancel it.
Now, wait for a while to complete the process.
Once the process is complete, go to MENU> Internet Settings> Reconnect to Internet Option.
After clicking the Reconnect to Internet option, it will be directed to a page where you will be asked if your Internet connection is working, click yes.
Now, you will be asked about the changes to your router’s wireless network settings. In that case, click Set up wireless to update.
Select the next step if you don’t have a wireless router.
You can find the Set up wireless option in the bottom right corner of your screen, click on it, your device will now start to search for wireless networks.
Then you will be presented with a list of all available networks that are in that area.
From the given list, select your wireless network, enter your password, and then the system boots the verification process.
Once the process is complete, your DIRECTV will be connected to the Internet.
Now all you have to do is select the Done button on the complete Internet setup screen.
The setup process is now complete and you can now enjoy your favorite shows .
Connect DIRECTV to Wi-Fi Using a Wired Connection
You can opt for a wired connection if you don’t have a wireless connection.
To do that, connect one end of your Internet cable to the receiver and the other end to your modem.
Wait for a while, and then a message will appear on the screen saying You are connected to Internet.
In case the connection is not set up, you need to reset the network settings.
To do that. Go to Menu > Internet Settings > Advanced Settings > Cable Settings.
Your device will now check the connection status.
Your DIRECTV will now be connected to a cable connection.

When it comes to the HR 34 Genie DVR, you can connect your Internet cable directly to the Genie DVR; Sometimes this makes it not work in a room.
While for Genie DVR, you won’t need a separate box of hookup kits as the hookup kit is already built in.
