Enrolling in the Apple Developer Program as an Individual

If you are an individual or sole proprietor/sole business, follow these steps to enroll in the Apple Developer Program through the Developer App from Apple on iPhone, iPad or Mac. Before you begin, you’ll need:

  • An iPhone or iPad with Touch ID, Face ID, or passcode enabled, or a Mac with Touch ID or passcode enabled. You must use the same device throughout the enrollment process.
  • An Apple ID with two-factor authentication turned on. Your Apple ID information must be valid and up-to-date, including, but not limited to, your first name (first name), last name (last name), address, phone number, trusted phone number, and trusted devices.
  • The latest version of the Apple Developer app installed on your device.
  • To sign in to iCloud on your device.

Start Registration

  1. Launch the Apple Developer app on the device you want to use for enrollment.
  2. Tap or click the Account tab.
  3. Sign in with your ID from Apple. This may be different than the Apple ID your device is signed in with, but you must have two-factor authentication turned on.
  4. If prompted, review the Apple Developer Agreement and tap or click Click I Agree.
  5. Tap or click Enroll Now.
  6. Review the program benefits and requirements and tap or click Continue.

Enter your personal information

  1. If prompted, enter your first name, last name, and phone number. Your personal legal name will appear as a seller in the App Store. Please do not enter an alias, nickname, or company name as your first or last name, as incorrectly entering your legal name will cause a delay in the completion of your enrollment review.
  2. You will be asked to Verify your identity using your driver’s license or a government-issued photo ID. Capture your photo ID and tap or click Confirm.2 For developers based in Mexico, driver’s licenses are not accepted at this time.
  3. Follow the steps on the next few screens:
    • Review the submitted information and tap or click Continue.
    • Select Person as your entity type.

    • Review the terms of the Apple Developer Program License Agreement and tap or click Accept.

Complete Purchase

Review your membership subscription details and tap or click the Subscribe button. Membership is provided annually as an auto-renewable subscription that renews until cancelled. You can make your purchase using one of your Apple ID payment methods.3 A receipt will be emailed to you, and the email receipt can be resent to yourself at any time from Purchase History in Settings. You can cancel your subscription in Settings up to one day before the annual renewal date. Membership fees paid for the year during which you cancel are non-refundable.

Enroll in the Apple ID Developer Program Apple as an Organization

If you are an employee of a company, nonprofit, joint venture, association, or government organization, follow these steps to enroll in the Apple Developer Program through the Apple Developer app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Please note that as the person enrolling your organization in the Apple Developer Program, you must have the legal authority to bind your organization into legal agreements. Must be the owner/founder of the organization, a member of the executive team, a senior project leader, or an employee with legal authority granted by a senior employee. Before you begin, you’ll need:

  • An iPhone or iPad with Touch ID, Face ID, or passcode enabled, or a Mac with Touch ID or passcode enabled. You must use the same device throughout the enrollment process.
  • An Apple ID with two-factor authentication turned on. Your Apple ID information must be valid and up-to-date, including, but not limited to, your first name (first name), last name (last name), address, phone number, trusted phone number, and trusted devices.
  • The latest version of the Apple Developer app installed on your device.
  • To sign in to iCloud on your device.

Start Registration

  1. Launch the Apple Developer app on the device you want to use for enrollment.

  2. You will be asked to verify your identity using your driver name . government-issued photo ID or license. Capture your photo ID and tap or click Confirm.2 For developers based in Mexico, driver’s licenses are not accepted at this time.

Enter your organization information

Follow the steps on the next few screens to provide the following information:

  • Entity Type .
  • Name of the legal entity. We do not accept DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names or branches. The name of the legal entity will appear as the “seller” of the applications it distributes. Example: Seller: ABC Company, Inc.
  • D‑U‑N‑S® Number. Your organization must have a D-U-N-S Number so that we can verify your identity and legal entity status. These unique nine-digit numbers are assigned by Dun & Bradstreet and are widely used as standard business identifiers. You can look for yours and request one for free.
  • Address and telephone number of the headquarters.
  • Website. Your organization’s website must be publicly available and the domain name must be associated with your organization.
  • Signing authority confirmation. Confirm that you have the authority to bind your organization to legal agreements and provide contact information for an employee who can verify your signing authority.
  • Optionally, if your organization is a non-profit organization, education or government, you can request a fee waiver.

After you’ve submitted your information, Apple will review it. You will then receive an email with the next steps.

Complete Registration and Purchase

Once your registration information is verified and approved, you will receive an email letting you know you can complete your Enrollment.

  1. Launch the Apple Developer application on the device you used for enrollment.
  2. Tap or click the Account tab.
  3. Launch Sign in with the Apple ID you used for enrollment.
  4. Tap or click Continue Your Enrollment.
  5. Review the Apple Developer Program License Agreement terms and tap or click OK.
  6. Review your annual membership subscription details and tap or click the Subscribe button.

Verifying your identity

In-app identity verification is required for certain processes, including those initiated and completed on the web (for example, accepting an Account Holder transfer or applying for the Apple Developer Enterprise Program). Once your identity has been verified, it is associated with your Apple ID and cannot be verified again by signing in with other Apple IDs. Before you begin, you’ll need:

  • An iPhone or iPad with Touch ID, Face ID, or passcode enabled, or a Mac with Touch ID or passcode enabled. You must use the same device throughout the enrollment process.
  • An Apple ID with two-factor authentication turned on. Your Apple ID information must be valid and up-to-date, including, but not limited to, your first name (first name), last name (last name), address, phone number, trusted phone number, and trusted devices.
  • The latest version of the Apple Developer app installed on your device.
  • To sign in to iCloud on your device.

Verify your identity

  1. Launch the Apple Developer app.
  2. Tap or click the Account tab.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID associated with your app or account from Apple Developer.
  4. Tap or click Verify your identity.
  5. If prompted, enter your legal first name, legal last name, and phone number. Do not enter an alias, nickname, or company name as your legal name, as this will cause a delay in verification.
  6. Capture your driver’s license or government-issued photo ID.2 For developers Based in Mexico, driver’s licenses are not accepted at this time.
  7. Review the information you submitted and tap or click Continue.

Complete the process

When your identity has been verified, a confirmation screen. show. You can then return to the web to complete the process if necessary.

Renewing your annual membership subscription

If you signed up through the Apple Developer app, your membership will renew as an auto-renewable subscription. Your default Apple ID payment method will be used.3 If you need to use your organization’s credit card, add it to the Apple ID you’re signed in with in your device settings. This may be a different Apple ID than the one you used to sign up.

Cancel and sign up again

You can cancel your subscription at any time and retain access to membership benefits until your membership expiration date, which you can view on the Account tab in the Apple Developer app. If you cancel your subscription and want to re-subscribe, you can do so at any time up to one year after your membership expiration date.
