How to set up Arlo Cameras

This article is for the Arlo Secure app experience with Feed. If you have experience of the Arlo Secure app with Library, please visit: Setting Up Arlo Cameras – Arlo Secure 4.0

This article applies to Arlo Ultra Wire-Free Series, Arlo Ultra 2, Arlo Pro 3, Arlo Pro 4, and Arlo Essential Series cameras. To connect and install other Arlo devices, visit the links at: Set up other Arlo devices

For best results, use the Arlo Secure App for Arlo camera setup.

An Arlo SmartHub or Base Station is required for Arlo Pro 3, Arlo Ultra, and Arlo Ultra 2 cameras. To check compatibility, visit: Arlo SmartHub and Base Station Compatibility

An Arlo SmartHub or base station is optional for the Arlo Pro 4 and Arlo Essential series wireless cameras. For more information, visit: What are the benefits of using an Arlo SmartHub or base station?

To set up your camera using an Arlo SmartHub or base station:

Note: Arlo Ultra, Ultra 2 and Pro 3 must be installed using a SmartHub or a base station.

  1. Launch the Arlo Secure app.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Add New Device.
  3. Tap Cameras.
  4. Touch Ultra, Pro, or Essential.
  5. Select your camera model.
  6. Select an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo base station.

Note: If an Arlo SmartHub or base station is not installed, tap Add New SmartHub.

Connect the Ethernet cable to your SmartHub or base station and touch Continue.

Connect the AC adapter to the power outlet Make sure the lights on your SmartHub or Base Station are on and tap Continue.

If you’re having trouble connecting your SmartHub or Base Station, visit: Arlo no can detect my SmartHub or base station during installation; What should I do?

  1. Insert the battery into the camera and tap Continue.
  2. Arlo will start searching for your camera.

Note: Make sure the camera is within 3-6 feet of your Arlo SmartHub or base station during the setup process. Avoid placing the camera near other Wi-Fi devices to avoid signal interference during the setup process. If the search is taking too long, tap Pair Device Manually. Press the Pair button inside the camera and tap Continue.

  1. Name your Arlo camera and tap Continue strong>.
  2. Place your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
  3. Tap Finish.

To set up Arlo Pro 4 or Arlo Essential wireless cameras directly to your Wi-Fi:

  1. Launch the Arlo Secure app.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Add New Device.
  3. Tap Cameras.
  4. Tap Pro or Essential.
  5. Select your camera.
  6. Select Connect without SmartHub (or select an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station if desired).
  7. If you selected Connect without SmartHub, tap Continue.
  8. Check your settings of the mobile device to Make sure you are connected to a 2.4 GHz network.
  9. Go back to the Arlo Secure app and tap Continue.
  10. Enter your Wi-Fi SSID (network name) and password,
  11. Tap Continue.
  12. For Arlo Essential Wire-Free Cameras:
  • Hold down the Sync button on the bottom of the camera for two seconds.
  1. To Arlo Pro 4:
  • Insert the battery into the camera and tap Continue.
  • When the The LED on the front of the camera is blinking blue, tap Continue.
  • If the LED is not blinking blue, tap LED is not blinking blue strong>.
  • Hold down the Sync button on the inside of the camera and tap Continue.
  • When the LED starts blinking in blue , tap Continue.
  1. Hold the QR code four to six inches in front of your Arlo camera.
  2. When you hear a ring, touch Continue. If you’re having trouble, visit: My Arlo camera won’t scan the QR code during setup
  3. Arlo will start searching for your camera.
