step 1. copy(transfer) the store folder from outlook express to the new computer.
from the windows xp computer (where outlook express is installed), copy the outlook express storage folder to the windows 7 (or 8, 8.1) computer (for example, to your desktop).

5. Wait for the installation to complete, and then continue to the next step.
step 3. import messages from outlook express to windows live mail
to transfer messages from outlook express mail to windows live mail (or to outlook):
1. open windows live mail (do not create an account).
2. From the main menu, select import messages.
3. In the windows live mail import dialogs, select microsoft outlook express 6 and click next.
4. click navigate.
5. Locate and select the outlook express storage folder you copied earlier from the old computer (in step 1) and choose good.
6. click next.
7. On the next screen, choose next if you want to import all folders/mail messages from outlook express, to windows live mail or check the folders option selected, to import specific folders.

8. When the import is complete, click Finish.
9. You should now have your emails in the windows live mail application (in the storage folder > imported folder > local folders).

step 4. transfer email messages from windows live mail to outlook.
1. From the windows live mail main menu, select export email > export messages.
2. In the windows live mail export dialog, select microsoft exchange and click next.
3. In the information message, select ok.
4. Choose the name of the outlook profile to which you want to export windows live messages. (eg “perspective”)
5. select the all folders option to export all email messages, or choose selected folders to export messages from specific folders.

7. finally close windows live mail and open outlook. your messages should be transferred to outlook.
