restrictions
Medications must be accompanied by a prescription from the Brazilian doctor who treats them. This prescription must be on a pharmacy form, with the doctor’s name, private address or office, his or her registration number with the Brazilian National Medical Council, and a Portuguese translation of the instructions, as necessary. postal packages containing medicines that do not meet the above conditions will be returned to the senders or, if abandoned, will be treated as undeliverable items.
Postage stamps are accepted only on First Class International Parcel Service with Certified Mail Service shipments.
Saccharin and other artificial sweeteners for artificial beverages require permission from the Brazilian Department of Public Health for importation.
Seeds require prior approval from the Brazilian Department of Agriculture, ie the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (map). remarks
- The Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company (ECT) is introducing a “postal fee” with a current value of 15 Brazilian reais (BRL) for items presented at customs. If the recipient has not properly paid this fee, ect will return the item to the sender.
- Import licenses are required for many types of goods. ect recommends that the sender check with the recipient before mailing that the recipient has the necessary documents. a shipment that does not have a required import permit is subject to confiscation as contraband.
- the shipper must attach all necessary or relevant documents, including invoices, export/import licences, certificates of origin, certificates of health etc , to the outside of the item.
- Imports by mail, including mail order catalog shipments, are permitted up to a value of u.s. $500 (u.s. $1,000 for computer software) without import license requirement as long as the item is not for resale. shipments valued at no more than u.s. $50 is tax-free and delivered to the recipient; shipments above usa uu. $50 can be picked up at the post office upon payment of import duties. imports that are prohibited or subject to special regulations must comply with the applicable Brazilian government provisions. Identical shipments from the same source to the same person or address in Brazil within a 90-day period are considered part of the same shipment and may be subject to confiscation. Other goods that generally enter duty-free include items such as newspapers, maps, books, and magazines.
- Sender must fully and accurately complete customs declarations, including recipient’s mobile or landline number , if available, and detailed information about the item’s content and value, such as the brand name, model, serial number, and value of each individual item within the item. ect immediately returns to the sender an item that does not have a properly completed customs declaration.
- The importer’s tax identification (id) number is required for all items containing merchandise. In Brazil, the importer’s tax identification number is known as “CPF” (format: 000.000.000-00) for individuals and “CNPJ” (format: 00.000.000/0000-00) for legal entities. this information must be provided either by the sender in the importer reference field of the customs declaration form or on the commercial invoice, or by the importer through the correios website at https://www2.correios.com .br/systems/rastreamento.
- Shipments that do not indicate the applicable postage and fees on the ps form 2976-a will hinder the customs clearance process, resulting in delays in clearing items.
