12 Free Email Services (Without Phone Verification)

welcome to a list of free email services that don’t ask for your phone number. Yeah, it’s a bit creepy these days. you need to give your phone number in exchange for an email account. I mean, while it adds a layer of security, it also comes at the price of privacy. So here is a list of email providers that provide free email services without asking for phone numbers. keep reading!

1) mail.com

registering with mail.com is very simple. just enter your name, desired email address, security question, password and voila – an email account in 3 minutes. but take note, they have a 65gb storage limit for free users, and the largest allowed attachment is 30mb.

that may be a bummer for some, but the extra features they offer push the limits far: two-factor authentication (2fa), email aliases, free online office suite, and they even have mobile email apps free for android and ios. mail.com has been one of my personal favorites so far, the servers are decently fast and their service is straightforward.

2) tutanota

This is one of the best email services I know of. tutanota offers free anonymous registrations and up to 1gb of storage space. the best part? tutanota is encrypted; adds another layer of security.

the best part? there are no ads. tutanota is open source and funded by donations plus premium accounts. premium accounts are very affordable at only 1 euro per month. Support these guys if you like their email service.

3) gmx mail

gmx (global mail exchange) is run by a listed company in germany. They’re reliable enough and have been around since 1997. Although they don’t set storage restrictions, there’s a 50mb attachment limit… and ad alert. Please note: Although you do not need a phone number to sign up for gmx, you still need another email account.

4) proton mail

Switzerland-based protonmail offers free email accounts with 500MB of storage and 150 emails per day. While this doesn’t sound very exciting, protonmail has a feature that most other email providers don’t: encryption. yes, you can send encrypted emails to people that are password protected and will expire or self-destruct in several days. is that good enough now?

5) post fence

encryption, privacy, no ads, no tracking. mailfence is one that actually looks quite convincing. but take note, an existing email is required to register and activate mailfence.

6) guerrilla mail

Want a totally anonymous email? then create one that is temporary. Introducing Guerilla Mail: a one-time email you can create, use, and then immediately discard. no registration required and you can even attach files up to 150mb.

7) email on cover

email on deck is an alternative to guerilla mail, just check you’re not a bot and get your temporary email – use it and throw it away.

8) Spam

9) mailnesia

mailnesia is an email with amnesia. really. just enter your desired email address and you will get an instant mailbox in seconds; No registration required. however, one problem with mailnesia is that you can’t send any email.

10) temporary frame

tempinbox is another public email that you can use in seconds. again, you can only receive emails with it, and there is no sending emails with it.

11) inbox.lv (not anymore!?)

12 Free Email Services (Without Phone Verification)

inbox.lv is a Latvian company that mainly offers email services. While this site is covered in ads, the email service is free, along with a few others like photo and file hosting. There’s really nothing to complain about here, and they’re pretty generous with their storage space. one small thing to note though: they seem to be experiencing a lot of spammers, and it took quite a while before I was able to sign up successfully.

edit: People reported that inbox.lv now blocks you on a page that requires your phone number after registration. you can try and verify this if you want…

12) yandex (not really?)

12 Free Email Services (Without Phone Verification)

last on this list is yandex, the so-called “russian google”. As you may have noticed, I’ve added a “not really” in the header. yes, and that’s for good reason. You can sign up for a yandex email account without a phone number, just click “I don’t have a phone number” during registration.

but here’s the rub: if yandex somehow deems your account to be “spam”, they’ll still ask for your phone number as verification. I already have my spare yandex account locked this way, and I refuse to give them my number. you decide if yandex is worth your time.

“didn’t work”?

This post is getting a lot of hilarious random hate comments from dumb trolls. If you’re having registration issues, it could be anything like network issues, browser compatibility, geolocation bans, ip blacklist, vpn/tor not allowed, or providers changing their business policies.

let’s keep things civil here and help each other out, just share what worked and what didn’t. obviously I don’t run email services and I can’t monitor them every day. 😆 Hate won’t do any good or give you a free email address. Calm down and good luck!
