To lessen the impact of the plant during repotting, we recommend planting your trees and shrubs during the dormant season. these are bare-root trees and plants, so giving them time before spring to start growing relieves stress. In addition, temperatures below 31 degrees impair plant growth. Safely planting your trees and shrubs is in temperatures above 31 degrees. once temperatures get above 58 degrees, your plants will leave the dormancy stage and start to sprout. For best results, plant before the budding process. the cooler months are the best times to plant trees and shrubs

Looking at the image below left, you can see how the bushes are shipped. Dormant season is when we ship our bushes when they have no leaves or flowers. To ensure you receive your bushes healthy, we soak the roots in Terra-Sorb Gel and cover them with packing paper. now, look at the right image below. if you plant your bushes before spring, your bushes may look like this. so remember, buying bare root plants instead of potted plants saves you more money to buy more plants.

what our perennials look like before shipping

The following image on the left is an example of our perennials before shipment. perennials are shipped without flowers as they are shipped in their dormant season. once you receive your perennials, plant them and wait for spring and its flowers (right image below).

Not all nurseries practice these extra steps, but rest assured that we do. prepare your plants in the field by placing them in a cooler until shipped, we pride ourselves on the best quality and service and only practice beneficial shipping methods.

Shipping at checkout is estimated only and is charged in advance. however, an exact shipping rate is unknown until the plants are packaged and weighed, creating a label. if there is a shipping overage, we bill your card in a desperate transaction when shipped.

To store your ferns, ground covers, and perennials before you can plant them, place them in temperatures of 38 to 42 degrees, which puts them in a dormant stage. An area like a basement, cellar, or garage would ideally store your ferns, groundcovers, and perennials. remember to remove from shipping packaging, cover with potting soil and mist lightly with water every other day. if you have a smaller order, pack the plants in the bags and place them in crisper drawers or in the bottom section of your refrigerator.

Place the roots in a pond, large canal, or lake to properly store live cuttings and wetland plants. if you don’t have this, take a container and fill it with water. the only thing to observe is the freshness of the water. remove any algae or standing water to ensure your plants remain as healthy as when you received them. rinsing the water every two days helps.
