india post provides basic international postal services viz. letters, postcards, aerograms, small packages, blind literature, printed papers, m bag (special bags containing newspapers, periodicals, books and similar printed documentation for the same recipient at the same address)

These services are available to 213 destinations worldwide and cover all major destinations.
registration
The check-in facility is available for letters, small packages, and paper documents. registration charges @ rs.150/- per item (excluding m bag) are payable in addition to applicable postage. the registration charge per bag m is rs.750 per bag.

Size limits for items other than postcards and aerograms are listed below:
- maximum: length, width and depth combined: 900 mm, but the largest dimension may not exceed 600 mm, with a tolerance of 2 mm; in roll: length plus twice the diameter: 1,040 mm, but the largest dimension may not exceed 900 mm, with a tolerance of 2 mm.
- minimum: have an area of not less than 90 x 140 mm , with a tolerance of 2 mm; in roll form: length plus twice the diameter: 170 mm; but the largest dimension cannot be less than 100 mm.

- 14 cm × 9 cm (length and width).
compensation policy by certified mail
for loss/total theft/total damage to an internationally registered item: value of contents or 30 sdr*, whichever is less, plus postage paid
for partial loss, partial damage or partial theft of an internationally registered item: Compensation paid will be limited to the value of the lost or damaged contents. in no case may it exceed the corresponding amounts mentioned for internationally registered object in case of loss, total theft or total damage. postage paid will not be refunded
