Meet the ‘shy and quiet’ teenager now in the running for Miss Teen Great Britain – Hull Live

a teen from beverley is vying for the title of miss teen britain.

Student Katie Hill, 17, has been selected from thousands of applicants across the country to win a spot in this year’s semi-final of the prestigious beauty pageant.

and now he hopes to compete for the crown in a spectacular grand finale held in October at the globe in blackpool.

The achievement is a source of particular pride for Katie, who struggles with her confidence and only applied for the contest after her friend asked if they could enter together.

“I only entered the competition because my friend said she would enter and asked if we could do it together,” said Katie, who is currently revising for her A-level exams.

“I only applied because of her and I never thought I’d make it, so I was really surprised when I found out I made it to the semis.”

“It was a huge achievement for me as thousands of people across the UK applied and I was selected.”

“applying really took me out of my comfort zone as I’m a shy and quiet person and a year ago I wouldn’t have dreamed of applying.”

“but it’s been one of the most amazing experiences of my life and it’s given me a real boost of confidence and made me tell myself I need to give myself more credit.”

As part of her application for the semi-finals, Katie had to answer a series of questions about what she did, why she applied, and what she would do if she won the Miss Teen Britain crown, as well as submitting pictures of herself.

The student, who starts exams next week for her psychology, sociology and math grades, hopes to study math at university after taking a year away to work and save some money.

Before the next leg of the competition, Katie started fundraising for a race across the Humber Bridge.

“as an optional extra in the competition, we may raise funds for a charity. i have decided to support the charity together for short lives, which supports children and families suffering from life-threatening conditions, to ensure they can make the most of every moment you have together and give them the happiness they truly deserve.

“to raise the money, I’ll be running across the humber bridge in a fancy costume at a set time, and I’m thinking of dressing up as a superhero to attract the kids I’m running for.”

“I hope I can raise as much money as possible.”

“if I were to win the miss teen britain competition I would be absolutely speechless and not believe it, but if I did, I hope to influence other young people like me to chase their dreams and have the confidence that they can do anything whatever they propose.”
