Based in Philadelphia, Penn Bio Launch is composed of a diverse leadership board dedicated to empowering University of Pennsylvania members to build meaningful biotech ventures.

Eric is a fifth-year PhD Candidate in Bioengineering. His thesis work is focused on leveraging mechanical forces for cellular engineering, with the goal of regenerating damaged tissues in the musculoskeletal system. He plans to pursue management consulting or biotech venture capital, with the long-term goal of entering biotech in a strategic leadership role. Through Penn Bio Launch, Eric aims to foster a diverse community bringing together students of science, engineering, law, and business towards the goal of biotech entrepreneurship.

Outside of his research and Bio Launch, Eric enjoys playing violin in Penn Chamber and exploring Philadelphia.

Jun is an MD candidate in the Perelman School of Medicine at Penn. His research interests include immuno-oncology, microfluidics, and tissue engineering. Jun is very interested in leveraging his healthcare and biotech domain expertise towards a career in consulting, operations, and venture capital. Jun received his BS in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Johns Hopkins University and has previously served two research fellowship positions (IRTA & MRSP) at the National Institutes of Health intramural campus.

Sireesh is a junior in the Vagelos Life Sciences and Management (LSM) program studying finance in Wharton and molecular and cell biology. He researches rational vaccine design at The Wistar Institute. Previously, he has interned in venture capital with Cambrian Biopharma and is currently interning with BridgeBio’s strategic finance team. He is also the founder and co-director of Locust Bioventures, an undergraduate club providing advisory for scientists looking to develop biotech startups.

Outside of Bio Launch and research, Sireesh enjoys hiking and is a huge movie buff.

Ana is a fourth-year PhD Candidate in Bioengineering. Her thesis work employs biomaterials to engineer induced pluripotent stem cells, with the ultimate goal of regenerating musculoskeletal tissues. After graduation, Ana plans to continue pursuing the advancement and translation of impactful biotechnology by working with new venture formation and business development. Through Penn Bio Launch, Ana aims to help develop a robust biotech entrepreneurship ecosystem at Penn where staff and students from diverse backgrounds have the necessary tools to work together and maximize the impact of Penn biotech inventions.

Outside of lab and Bio Launch, Ana enjoys photography, playing sports, and trying out new restaurants in the Philly area.

Jieying is a second-year master student in Biotechnology. Her coursework ranges from drug discovery, development and delivery to tissue engineering and biomaterials. At Penn, she has been actively engaged in event planning and organizational administration. Through Penn Bio Launch, Jieying aims to connect with staff and students and help build a platform where graduate students and postdocs with great minds can bring their technologies or ideas to life.

Outside of school and Bio Launch, Jieying enjoys singing and playing with her cats.

Adrienne is a second-year PhD Student in the Pharmacology Graduate Group. Her thesis work explores the connection between individual stress responses and reward-related behaviors in the labs of Dr. Seema Bhatnagar and Dr. Elizabeth Heller. Through Penn Bio Launch, Adrienne aims to strengthen the bridge between Penn innovations and life sciences ventures, while simultaneously connecting graduate students who are passionate about biotech entrepreneurship.

During her spare time, Adrienne enjoys learning about space exploration/astronomy, practicing yoga and finding new house & techno music.

Iris is a 4th year Ph.D. candidate in the HHMI-NIBIB Interfaces Program within the Bioengineering department at Penn. Her thesis research focuses on developing Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging tools to study biodistribution and persistence of cell-based therapies (e.g. CAR T cells) for monitoring of off-tumor targeting and toxicity. Iris plans on pursuing a career in consulting post-graduation and is interested in transitioning to business development or strategy role at a biotech venture capital firm in the long-term.

Through Penn Bio Launch, Iris hopes to bring together talented students and industry mentors (founders, VCs, angel investors, law firms) and support aspiring entrepreneurs in launching the successful startups they deserve!

In her spare time, Iris loves to travel and enjoys eating junk food.

Jingyi is a first-year MBA student in the Healthcare Management Program at the Wharton School of Business. Prior to Wharton, Jingyi was a resident physician and completed her MD from Harvard Medical School. Jingyi is interested in designing preventive and therapeutic interventions that improve the lives of patients around the world.

In her spare time, Jingyi enjoys playing flute, exploring restaurants and dog-watching.

Dania is a fifth-year PhD Candidate in the Pharmacology Program. Her thesis research is focused on using analytical techniques such as MS and NMR to understand how metabolic differences arise as a result of sleep and/or circadian disruption. Through Penn Bio Launch, Dania hopes to help establish an infrastructure for Penn faculty, staff and students to access resources to enable them to succeed in the entrepreneurship space.

Outside of her research and Bio Launch, Dania enjoys baking, reading and traveling.

Bianca is an undergraduate senior studying Science, Technology, and Society, with a concentration in Biotechnology and Biomedicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Her interests are neurotechnology ethics, female biased autoimmunity, and finance. She plans to pursue IP Law and business development with the goal of entering biotech venture capital and biotech strategic leadership. Bianca hopes through Penn Bio Launch, to create a space for intersectional scholarship in biotech therapeutics.

In her free time, Bianca enjoys the great outdoors while hiking, skiing, and through extensive travel. When not on an action/adventure, she can be found experimenting in the kitchen, or leaving it to the pros at her favorite wine bar.
