It can be tricky to have multiple calendars at once, which can lead to missed meetings and conflicting schedules. Every time you receive an event or meeting invite in your gmail account, it will be added to the corresponding google calendar. But what if you have multiple gmail accounts and google calendars? The answer is to merge Google Calendars so you only need to visit one page for all your planning and scheduling needs. let us show you how!
merge google calendars
If you have a personal gmail and a work gmail, or multiple accounts that you’d like to see on one calendar, here’s an easy way to combine them:
- Sign in to one of your google calendar accounts in an internet browser.
- on the left side, you will see a section that says “other calendars”. click the plus sign next to it, then select “subscribe to calendar” from the dropdown menu.
3. then add the email address of the gmail account you want to add to your calendar. this will generate a popup saying you don’t have access to that calendar. use the form to request access.
4. then all you need to do is get approved, which if you’re merging your own calendar is as easy as clicking a link in your email. then you can see the events of both gmail accounts in one calendar.
You can also add public calendars, such as sporting events and holidays. To do this, follow the steps above, but select ‘search for calendars of interest’ instead of ‘subscribe to calendar’. this will open a list of public calendars to choose from. simply check the box next to the calendars you want to add to your account, and these events will appear on your calendar!
export events from google calendar
If you want to merge all your events into one calendar, you can use the export and import feature to do so. however, this solution does not automatically sync when you add new events in your other gmail instances. this means you’ll need to perform the steps below regularly to keep your calendars combined and up to date! it is a great solution if you are getting rid of an old gmail account and need to change all events to a new one or similar situations.
- In a web browser, open the google calendar you want to export to a different instance of google calendar.
- on the left side of the page, find the “my calendars” section and click the three dots next to the calendar you want to export. then click ‘settings and sharing’ in the drop down menu.
- under ‘calendar settings’, click ‘export calendar’
4. clicking this button will start the download of an .ics file containing all your events. once the file has downloaded, it’s ready to import into another google calendar.
5. Open the calendar you’d like to import your events into and click the gear icon in the top right corner. then select ‘settings’ from the drop down menu.
6. on the left side, click ‘import & export’ and then select import.
7. click ‘select file from your computer’ and select the .ics file you just downloaded. then make sure to select the calendar you’d like to add these events to in the ‘add to calendar’ dropdown.
8. hit the ‘import’ button, and voila! a pop-up window will confirm that the events have been added to your calendar.
Note that this is a one-time upload of your events, and changes to your original calendar will no longer be synced with your current calendar.
