How to Package Sticker Orders for Shipping the Easy Way – Jobless Hustler

if you follow sticker shops on youtube, instagram or tiktok you have probably seen some very elaborate sticker packs.

These packaging configurations are super cute and customers love them, but they are time consuming and can be quite intimidating for first-time decal shop owners who think they have to do something similar to compete with other decals. shops

Fortunately, it’s actually quite easy to create simple, inexpensive, low-waste adhesive packaging using materials that can be found at any grocery store. you probably even have all the materials in your house right now.

materials to pack adhesive orders the easy way

Here’s a list of everything you’ll need to pack your stickers:

  • wax or parchment paper
  • duct tape
  • scissors
  • envelope
  • a stamp or shipping label
  • a pen

and that’s it.

The wax paper simply acts as an additional barrier to keep the label secure and dry on the envelope.

parchment paper works too, so I just buy whatever is cheapest when I go to the store.

of course the scissors are used to cut the wax paper and the tape is used to close the edges of the wax paper once it is folded around the stickers.

You can’t mail the stickers in a wax paper package, so you’ll need to use an envelope. I use the 6 3/4 size, but if your stickers are large, you may need a larger envelope.

Stickers can be shipped with a standard usps forever stamp which costs $0.55 usd.

many sites like etsy and ebay allow you to buy shipping labels directly from them and you can print the shipping labels directly on the envelope. this saves you a little time because you don’t have to address the envelopes by hand.

Just make sure the site you use doesn’t charge you more than $0.55 for the label, so you don’t pay more than you have to for shipping.

The pen is for addressing envelopes if you are not using shipping labels. can also be used to write friendly notes to your clients on the envelope.

5 easy steps to package your sticker orders

1. Cut a piece of wax paper to the right size.

Place the sticker on the edge of the wax paper to determine how much wax paper to cut. be sure to leave small margins on each side of the label so you have enough room to fold the edges of the paper.

once you have cut a strip of wax paper to the proper width, you can cut the strip to the proper length by folding it over the sticker.

  • place the label on the wax paper to cut the wax paper to the proper width.
  • fold wrap the wax paper around the sticker to cut it to the proper length

You can save any extra wax paper you didn’t use for this sticker and use it to package other stickers. Even the pieces that are quite small can be used to pack mini stickers.

2. fold the wax paper around your sticker.

You don’t have to be an origami master to complete this step. if you can wrap gifts, then you can wrap the sticker in wax paper.

Simply place the sticker face down on the wax paper and fold the edges of the wax paper around the sticker.

  • fold the top and bottom edges around the sticker.
  • fold the right and left edges around the sticker

If you are packaging multiple decals, just make a stack of decals in the middle of the wax paper and wrap it the same way you would wrap a single decal.

if you’re packing a ton of decals, make sure the decal stack isn’t too thick to ship in a usps envelope. the maximum thickness for a standard letter is 1/4 inch.

Standard USPS envelopes should also be relatively uniform in thickness. If your stickers make the envelope thicker in one part of the envelope than in another part of the envelope, then you will have to pay a non-machinable surcharge.

If you’re shipping multiple mini-sticker packs like I do, you don’t have to make the wax paper pack the same tiny size as the mini-stickers. you can make a bigger pack that contains them all and allows them to be flatter than a single stack of mini stickers.

3. Tape down the edges of the wax paper packet.

after folding the wax paper around the decal, you will have 3 loose edges around the decal. just tape them together.

4. address your envelope and decorate it.

Now you are ready to prepare your envelope.

If you buy your shipping label on your sales platform, print the shipping label on your envelope.

If not, handwrite your return address and customer address on the envelope with your pen.

don’t forget to put a stamp on the envelope.

Now you can add some finishing touches to your envelope by drawing designs or writing sweet notes on it.

I always write a short sentence on each envelope to try and build a relationship with my clients.

In the sentence, I always include the client’s name.

If possible, I try to make the sentence an inside joke that is applicable to the decal the customer purchased.

For example, one of the stickers I’m selling is a worm in a cowboy hat saying “hi, hi.”

if a customer named emily buys that decal, i’ll write, “hello hello emily!” on the outside of your envelope.

If it’s hard to write a short inside joke related to the decals a customer bought, I just write, “thanks for shopping little one, (customer name)”. to show my appreciation for the fact that the client chose to buy from a small time independent artist like me instead of a big company like walmart or michael’s.

feel free to steal that sentence if you want. It appeals to some customers’ well-informed buying decisions and makes them feel important and rewarded for making the decision to buy from you.

The good feelings that come from a simple handwritten sentence can turn your customers into loyal customers who leave glowing 5-star reviews.

5. Place the package of wax paper stickers in an envelope and seal it.

now you have a packaged sticker! Put the packaged sticker in an envelope, seal the envelope, and then you are ready to put the envelope in your mailbox.

what do real customers think of this sticker packaging method?

Admittedly, this is not the most beautiful adhesive packaging system known to man. Compared to some of the sticker shops on tiktok and instagram, this packaging is a bit plain.

That said, this system is not ugly. I’ve had customers comment on how they liked my plain packaging:

couldn’t I use cellophane bags to pack my stickers?

This method is also cheaper, easier and less time consuming than many of the more sophisticated methods out there.

but now you might be wondering, wouldn’t it be just as cheap and even faster to pack my stickers in cellophane bags?

That’s definitely an option. however, I urge you to skip the cellophane and opt for wax paper instead.

why? because wax paper is better for the environment.

wax paper is biodegradable and compostable. Cellophane bags are also biodegradable, but they take much longer to break down than wax paper. methods for making cellophane bags are also less environmentally friendly than methods for making wax paper.

So if you want to start a decal shop, don’t let decal packaging be a step that delays the opening of your shop. This does not have to be a difficult process.

start using this simple method. As time goes by, you can modify this method as you see fit. you can add decorations or guardrails as you see fit.

Don’t put off opening your store another week just because you haven’t found the perfect packaging system yet. open your shop today!
