  • Buy a hosting plan.
  • Set up your blog.
  • Create content for your blog.
  • Promote your blog.

Now let’s get into the details, shall we? ? us?

Phase 1 – Decide:

Is blogging your cup of tea?

Before getting into the nitty-gritty of On the matter of how to start a blog in India, I want you to ask yourself, do you really think you can write a blog?

Blogging could simply mean a medium to express your thoughts, to shout your ideas, beliefs, experiences or insights to your audience.

If your only goal is to make money blogging, but you hate interacting with people, then blogging may not be the right job for you. you. You’re probably better off spending time looking for something else you really like.

Here are some traits I think every blogger should have (read them carefully):

A little of interest in writing; you don’t have to be the next Stephen King, but if you don’t have one bit of interest in writing, then the case is already closed. ; find something else you’d like to do instead.

A social bone; must be willing to connect with people, even if you’re an introvert. I know that being an introvert it’s hard to get along with people; but if you have the will you will always try and one day you will master it.

Discipline; if you are planning to blog full time then having a lot of time to yourself can be a distraction, you must have the ability to set goals and achieve them on time. If you don’t learn to discipline yourself then, days, even months, will go by and you won’t even have the first word written on paper or in your computer notebook.

few would be cheerful, encouraging, but some will be trashy or even spiteful. By that time, you should know how to fight those trolls. The best way I can suggest is to just ignore them and focus on your actual work.

A genuine interest in helping; blogging is no different from any business. Whatever content you create, think of it as your product and your audience as your customer. Now, if your product is not helping your customers in any way to solve some problem in their life, then they definitely won’t buy it (in your case, that would be reading your posts and interacting with your content).

Ok, if you think you have blogging material 😉 go ahead and ask yourself the following questions:

What do I want to achieve with blogging?

– Is it money? Do you want to stand out as an authority in your niche? Or is it just your love of helping others by sharing your knowledge and experiences?

What will I share on the blog?

-Is it going to be be life lessons from your experiences? Are they going to be reviews about things, products or places? Or will they be tutorials to teach people how to do things?

Please answer the questions honestly.

Before proceeding, it is very important that you understand the main purpose behind start blogging.

Here are a few more things to know before you jump into blogging.

Go ahead…

Do you need passion to start a blog?

I think passion is overrated.

Everyone says passion is a must for blogging successful . But I don’t entirely agree with that.

I believe that as humans, we can achieve anything we want. If we put our mind to something we can definitely achieve it; Of course, you will need hard work and dedication. But anything is possible.

Passion = Great interest = Awesome content = Great result.

I totally agree. Having a strong desire will make it much more stress-free to continue as a blogger.

But just for argument’s sake, let’s say you never wrote anything in your entire life and were given the opportunity to write a book of just 20 pages, in 20 days, on a subject you’ve never heard of, and let’s hypothetically say there’s some big prize money involved.

Now tell me, could you make some excuses? fools and let go of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity or will you do the hard work? Wouldn’t you try to find information on that subject, study it carefully and give your 110% to write the best 20 pages of your life?

I bet you will work hard and write the best piece of content you ever could.

You get my point?

All I’m trying to say is that you don’t really need to be passionate about something to be good at it. you need a big reason (more details in Phase 2…).

Going back to blogging, let’s say you’re passionate about a niche, but what if the topic or niche you’re passionate about doesn’t have money? value?

Will you continue to write or create content around it? You shouldn’t if your ultimate goal is to make money from your blog.

So, my suggestion is that instead of thinking about creating a blog around your passion (which lacks much-needed monetary value), ), create a blog on a topic that you are most comfortable with (something you feel you would grow into) and that has the potential to make you money.

Passion is definitely important. But when it comes to blogging (or anything literally), if you rely too much on your passion, you may never have the success you want.

When it comes to achieving our big goals, we we can’t let our passion define it for us.

To be successful with anything in your life, you must have the “growth mindset”: you must realize that you can improve your skills . through practice; whether it’s writing, getting on camera and speaking, whether it’s anything you can’t imagine doing.

The trick here is: just do it and know that you can improve through practice. .

After all, passion can be developed with dedication and hard work (that’s what I really believe);

To prove my point, I’ve written a detailed post about it. . You can read it here>> Is it essential to have passion to have a successful blog?

Phase 2 – Investigation:

When you are 100% If you are sure After you want to start a blog, the next phase is to Research.

If you don’t do your research correctly, it could become a huge headache in the long run. So always be sure to do your research first.

What niche should you start your blog in?

You just don’t want to pick a nicheblindly .

Choose the wrong niche and you’re out of the game. You’ll end up wasting a lot of time for nothing.

Your niche should be a combination of your interest (so-called passion) and it should have much-needed monetary value.

how to pick a niche for your blog

Here are 3 questions to ask yourself to discover the perfect niche for you:

Q1. What am I passionate about?

As I said, passion is overrated. So don’t worry too much about it.

However, if you think I’m crazy because you already have a passion that you can’t wait to get up every morning to work on, then just move on. Please continue to the next question below;

Otherwise, keep reading…

When I started, I had no idea what online marketing or blogging is; in fact, those were foreign words to me.

But when I dug deeper, I realized that this was something I could do.

So, I started working on it and now I’ve been 3 years. Go ahead, I am writing a blog on How to Start a Blog and Make Money in India and I also claim that I can teach you online marketing (I am not kidding).

So, If you still You haven’t found your passion, then stop looking for it. as they say,

You usually find what you’re looking for the moment you stop looking.

If you’re like most of us, you’ll change topic or you will settle for something on the fly. You don’t need to be passionate about a topic, theme, or niche right away.

Instead, I would suggest being passionate about one goal; that will keep you motivated and strong on your journey. For example, I had this goal, “to become my own boss one day, without having to stick to a fixed time and space.”

Now, if you’re wondering what happened to my goal?

So this is what happened, “Now I don’t work for anyone, I work from anywhere, I can bring my laptop and whenever I want, I can wake up on my own, I can go to sleep when I feel like it. that I need it, and when I’m not working or sleeping, I sing, dance, play, or do whatever makes me happy.”

So, don’t do it. Don’t overthink it. Have a clear goal about what you want out of your life and go for it, time will take you to where you need to be.

Also, it’s just a blog we’re talking about here, no matter what it is If it stops you, give it a try and if you feel like this isn’t your thing, you can always stop and focus on the other things that matter.

My point is if you don’t take a sip, how will you know if it’s your cup of tea or not?

Having said that, you have to have a niche to start a blog. It might not be something you’re passionate about, but it should at least be something you’re really interested in.

What you can do is take a pen and paper and make a list of the things you like. to do and pick something from that (keep the illustration above in mind when making the list) and try to brainstorm content ideas in that niche.

And when you feel stuck or bored with one thing, leave it and go on with it. next on your list and keep repeating it until you find something you don’t feel stuck or bored in.

Once you’ve found a niche that interests you (even if it’s not very strong) practice deliberately creating content around you every day.

Make it an unbreakable habit and there you have it, you won’t even realize it when it became your passion.</p

— but before you start, make sure that you really have an interest, knowledge, and experience in your niche. Otherwise, you’ll end up frustrated that you can’t create anything around you after a while.

I’m not talking about an expert level of knowledge or experience; just the basics to get you started.

You can’t teach something you haven’t tried or experienced yourself. If you do, people would instantly identify you. And you don’t want that if you want to become a successful blogger.

I believe that if you are desperate to achieve your goals, whatever you do, you will do it with passion.

P2 . Is this a profitable niche?

If you’re someone who doesn’t want to be stuck in a steady 9 to 5 job and wants to live a boss-free life as a blogger, then you’ll need to make sure the niche you have chosen really has that potential.

How to start a blog in India and make money

If the niche you have chosen or the niche you are already passionate about is a topic hot, known for generating huge profits, then you my friend are a lucky person.

But if the niche that you had decided to blog about to earn money is not known, then you might end up losing the time for nothing.

So, make sure you’re investing your time and effort in the right niche.

Here are some ways to find out if your niche can make you money:

  • Use Google Keyword Planner to find out how often people search for something in your niche.
  • Use Google Trends to make sure your niche is trending for a long time and possibly stays trending for many years to come.
  • Find out if there are any affiliate products or programs available in your niche. Clickbank and Amazon are good places to look for niche affiliate products.
  • Make a Google search or go to the nearest large library or bookstore to find out if there are any books written in your niche. If there are any, then there is a high chance that it is a profitable niche.
  • Last but not least, try to find out if any bloggers are already making money in your niche. These days, most bloggers share their earnings reports, so all you need to do is find them and read them.

Once you’re sure your niche has enough potential to make millions, if not billions, then move on to the next question or scroll up to the first question and look at your list one more time.

Q3. Am I ready to commit?

Let’s say you’ve found a niche that you’re passionate about and it has the potential to make a lot of money. Does it mean that you will now start a blog and it will be a great success?

Of course not; If you want to build a strong audience through your writing, help your audience solve a problem they need help with, and want to make enough money to live their dreams, then there’s one thing you’ve got to be seriously wrong with: commitment. – for yourself and your audience.

You need to make sure you create valuable content and stay consistent.

If you’ve made a promise to your audience, then keep it through whatever happens; Of course, there could be circumstances beyond your control, so if that time comes, just be open to your audience and tell them why you couldn’t keep your promise.

You’ll be surprised how understanding they are. they are.

Now, how are you going to create valuable content?

Of course, your knowledge and experience will come in handy here. If you don’t have enough, then first find a way to earn something; if necessary, take a break from your plan to start a blog.

I had worked in the online marketing industry for over two years to finally have the confidence to start this blog.

Choosing the right niche is not enough. You’ll need to keep exploring that niche and the possibilities in it, to come up with new ideas for creating content around it.

So if you think you’re ready to commit, just jump in, or else, take your time and learn as much as you can until you find the confidence.

Warning, though: if you wait too long, everyone else could take over the success you want one day.

So So what I would recommend instead is to put yourself in learning mode during the day and work on your blog at night. You can document your learning on the blog.

Remember, at the end of the day you want to write for your readers, not yourself; so make sure you have given your 100% to it.

Which platform to choose for blogging?

There are many free blogging platforms that you can choose from to start a blog in India.

Namely: WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Medium, Ghost, Squarespace, Wix and many others. p>

start a blog on free platforms - applicable to india too

However, if you are serious about making money blogging then I highly recommend starting a self-hosted WordPress blog. p >

With its 60% market share (source), WordPress is the most used and most popular CMS (Content Management System); 90% of successful bloggers use WordPress.

WordPress is hands down the best platform if you are willing to pay. It will give your blog plenty of possibilities with its 54000+ free and premium plugins and themes to work with.

But, if you don’t want to invest right away, just sign up for any of the free platforms available and start a blog for free

My recommendation on how to start a blog in India: if you want to go for the free option, then blogger .com or medium.com are the correct options. And if you seriously want to start blogging then start a self-hosted WordPress blog blog (wordpress.org).

A bit more about WordPress:

WordPress has two versions, wordpress.com and wordrress.org.

wordpress.com, (although not recommended ) is a free online platform, like Blogger.com, where you just need to register for an account; set up a few things and you’re ready to start blogging.

It’s FREE, so you’ll obviously have fewer features and very little control over how your blog looks. Most importantly, wordpress.com does not allow you to place ads on your blog, so it will drastically limit your earning potential.

So if you are writing a blog to make money, then wordpress.com is definitely not the choice.

wordpress.org, aka self-hosted WordPress (the one I’m recommending), on the other hand, is downloadable blogging software that you previously had to Upload to your web hosting account and start blogging.

But to make your job easier, nowadays almost all major hosting providers offer a one-click WordPress installation. So you won’t have to worry about the technical issues of manually uploading and installing WordPress.

With wordpress.org or a self-hosted WordPress you have the freedom to try all the available ways to make money from your blog, therefore unlimited earning potential.

Should I go for a paid domain and hosting?

Of course you do.

If you think of blogging as a business, then every business in the world needs a small investment.

As I mentioned earlier, if you are serious about blogging, making money from your blog, or building a personal brand, then you should definitely consider getting a domain name and hosting plan.

And, even if you decide to start a blog for free, it is recommended that you at least buy a domain name for your blog.

Having a domain name puts you in the dark. ahead of the many other bloggers who are in your current stage and running their blogs on a free platform.

In addition, your blog will have a unique identity, and from day one you can work to build a brand around your blog. That’s the beauty of having a domain name, it gives you so much control over your brand.

And when it comes to branding, referring your algo.com domain to someone is much more professional than algo. wordpress. com or something.blospot.com.

In addition, if you purchase a hosting plan (or email hosting), you can also create a custom email id with your own domain name that says ” I’m a professional.”

Also, with a self-hosted blog, you won’t have to display the annoying ads that free hosting providers put on your website—unless, of course, you’re being overly generous and want to give them a free share of your traffic.

When you have a designated domain name for your blog, believe me, most readers will take it more seriously than others without one.It gives them a sense of seriousness that you stream to your work.

And by having web hosting, you won’t have to compromise on the look and feel of your blog.

Since you’ll have full access to the back-end files of your site, it gives you the freedom to design it how you envision it.

The best part of WordPress is that you don’t have to be a coder; With over 54,000 plugins, the sky is the limit. There is a plugin for literally every single tweak you want to do on your website.

And also, having access to the backend can be very useful sometimes.

I have this habit of trying out any new plugin I see on WordPress. And it has happened many times that while testing the plugin, I mess something up and it closes the whole website, leaving me clueless.

In such situations, I just log into my web host and remove that particular plugin and start again; and most of the time it solves the problem for me.

Another very important advantage of having a self-hosted blog is that it gives you full control over your on-page SEO; which is a big thing in blogging.

So, without a doubt, buying a domain name and hosting plan is the best investment you can make right now.

How much does it cost to start a blog in India?

If you are wondering how much it would cost to start blogging , then here is a breakdown for you.

  1. Domain – Starts from about INR800.
  2. Hosting – A good starter hosting plan will cost you between INR2500 – INR6000; depending on the company.

Note: Some companies provide a FREE domain with their hosting plans (eg Bluehost ). Usually, a .com domain name costs between INR 700 and INR 1000.

Pro Tip: Buy your domains from Namecheap; it will cost you less in the future when you renew.

Continuing…

How to choose the perfect domain name?

Well, to be honest, not really you need to think too much when choosing your domain name. It used to be a big problem to choose the right domain name because that could affect your search engine rankings.

People used to keep the keyword they wanted to rank for in search engines as their name domain name.

p>

But things have changed now, it really doesn’t matter these days what your domain name is, as long as you provide quality content that people love.

If your own name sounds good for a domain name, look no further, just buy it as it’s available. That could actually be a good way to promote yourself.

You can also use your first, middle or last name and combine it with a word related to your field of work. something like digitaldeepak.com.

But in cases like mine, where the name does not fit as a good domain name, you will have to think of a name that sounds good to the ears, that is easy to remember and it somehow makes sense with your niche.

Some mistakes to avoid when choosing your domain name:

Avoid double meaning domains :

Always keep in mind that you don’t want to use a domain that has a double meaning, for example: a long time ago I had a themomentshop.com domain.

How do I read it? – The Moment’s Hop: it’s a blog about the things that happen around.

How do others read it? – The Moment Shop: It’s an online store for something.

It’s a complete misinterpretation of the idea I had in mind and the idea others got from the name.

So, do not do it. Don’t make that mistake.

Avoid confusing words like domain:

In 2021 I changed my blog name from honingbird.com to BloggingVenture.com

My last domain name was a bit confusing.

I found that for a complete stranger, it is very difficult to figure out from the domain name alone what the blog is about.

So If anyone is looking for blogging tips and they come across honingbird.com, chances are they won’t bother clicking on it unless there’s enough information to back it up and they realize this is a blog about blogs.

And to make sure my understanding is correct, I conducted a survey and many said many things, but no one got it right: “that it is a blog where you can learn to write”.

Actually, some had said – it’s a blog about birds.

That was enough for a hint.

So after 1 year of blogging, I finally changed the domain name of my blog from honingbird.com to bloggingventure.com

So you’d be wise to get a domain that won’t confuse your audience; and also saves you the hectic process of changing domain names.

Always look for a “.com”:

Here’s something to remember; always, always go for a “.com”. If it’s not available, my suggestion is to find another domain name.

Start a blog on dot com always, even if you

Why?

Because people no You don’t usually remember TLDs (Top Level Domain: This is the part after the dot in your domain name. For example, .com, .in, .us, .net)

Most people will remember the name of the blog or the name of the brand. So when they really want to visit your blog or site, they will most likely type .com after your blog name; because that is the most common TLD.

This means that if there is already a blog or site available with the same name but with a “.com”, then you can easily lose direct traffic.

One more reason why you should always have a “.com”: if your target is, say, only India or the US, then having a .in or .us respectively is not a bad idea; but if your content is not limited to a single particular region and in the coming days, if you want to expand to the whole world, having a .com is a must for good SEO</p

Furthermore, there is a possibility that your blog or brand may grow and you decide to buy a .com, but find out that someone took advantage of your negligence and already bought your .com domain and now asks you to pay an amount of 10, maybe 100 times more higher than the original.

Therefore, it is better to have a “.com” in advance than to regret it later.

Where buy your domain name and web hosting?

My favorite place to buy domains is Namecheap.com.

For hosting, >A2Hosting, Bluehost and Greengeeksare the best. Their transparent pricing, speed of hosting, and excellent customer support will make it a breeze to start your blogging business.

And I can vouch for them, having used their services myself. And FYI, Bloggingventure.com is currently hosted on A2Hosting.

Phase 3 – Action:

I like to say:

The distance between dreams and reality is action

So instead of wasting time reading too many articles on starting a blog, just start a blog. And if you’re still in doubt, try the free options available like Blogger or medium.com before you invest any money.

Next Steps Once You You have bought your hosting:

Set up your blog

So how do you start a blog in India? Click-click-click, done;

That’s right, you can get your blog up and running in a few minutes.

But I think that’s not the right way to do it. Do not rush. Take your time. Take hours, if you must.

If you must, take all day to set it up, even all week, but don’t just follow what I tell you to do, understand what you’re doing.

It’s like you’re about to start a new relationship, so like any relationship, get to know it inside and out. That will be useful in the long run.

Of course, it will take time. But if it’s important to you, then what’s the rush?

Take your time to understand what you’re doing, that doesn’t mean you get too technical with it and mess up your brains.

I mean, if you find some minor bugs in the blog in the future, you will have a wider scope of understanding to fix the problem yourself, instead of relying on someone else entirely.

Follow the step by step guide to install your WordPress blog on Bluehost:

Writing content for your blog

Here comes the big task. The success of your blog depends on it.

Writing articles or posts consistently is the only way to keep your blog alive. You have to keep creating awesome content that keeps bringing people to your blog.

No matter what niche you are in, if you don’t create engaging and useful content on a regular basis, you will not only lose your readers, but also your ranking will drop in the SERP (search engine results page). ).

That’s why it’s so important that you keep up with your blog.

When I say consistency, I don’t mean you have to write 4, or 5 posts a day, at the same time. week or month. If you can write, great.

But if you find it hard to keep up for whatever reason, make sure you don’t stop altogether.

1-2 posts a month is also good if you can generate immense value from it.

I know people who wrote only 30 posts in 18 months and still earning more than 2 lakhs per month.

So it’s not always the amount, it’s quality matters.

Now, what if you’ve never written anything in your life? How are you going to handle that?

– I can think of two ways, either you start writing and you write and write until you become a professional, or you just hire someone to write for you. Even better, do a combination of both.

The second option is only applicable if you want to start multiple blogs; otherwise, I recommend the first option: learn to write yourself.

Here’s a pro tip: when you’re writing, think of your readers as one person. In fact, think of him/her as your friend and write as if you were writing to one.

Here are 2 resources to help you write:

And if (for whatever reason) you decide hire someone, here are some places to look for writers: WriterAccess, AllIndieWriters, Upwork, SEOClerk and you can also try some relevant Facebook groups.

Promote your blog

Once you’ve written some great articles on your blog, now is the time to promote.

Since great content alone won’t make your blog successful, you’ll need the other element more important; Yes, you guessed right, an audience, otherwise there is no point.

When it comes to promoting your blog, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Get on every possible platform you can think of where your readers might hang out.

As they say, “be where your customers are.”

Go on Reddit, Quora, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Telegram. Share on other platforms like Medium, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, and Slideshare.

Do SEO, run ads, build backlinks, and write for other bloggers. Reach out to them and ask them to share their story with your audience. Some would share, some would not. But you can’t leave any stone unturned.

Set short-term goals and stick with them until you reach them. Work on one platform at a time and keep your focus sharp. Don’t move on to another one until you’re done with the first one.
