Gmail usernames must follow these rules:
6 characters minimum 30 characters maximum Allowed characters: Letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) Usernames with dots are treated the same as without them
Worry not, it”s super straightforward. Follow these simple steps: Enter the username you would like to have into the input field. It must be between 6 and 30 long. Only a-z and 0-9 characters are allowed. Dots don”t play any role, all dotted variants are the same as the main variant without dots.

There are 2 possible outcomes of the username availability verification. The username is either free to register or taken. However, your username might not be suitable for Gmail, with 3 possible reasons. Let”s take a look at all the possible result messages you might encounter:

Green result is a good result! The username you checked is most probably available for registration. Why most probably? During our testing, we”ve encountered a tiny amount of cases with a false positive result.
