How to adjust settings for Core Shields in Avast Antivirus | Avast

When you make a purchase through the avast store, you may be notified that you must enable javascript and/or cookies in your web browser. This is because the avast store cannot load and function properly without this setting enabled.

To enable javascript and/or cookies, please refer to the information in the appropriate section below based on your web browser:

google chrome

enable javascript

To enable javascript for all websites you visit with google chrome, see the instructions for step 1: enable javascript in the following google chrome help article:

If you prefer to enable javascript only for web pages that are part of the avast.com domain, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to ⋮ menu (three dots) ▸ settings.
  2. click privacy and securitysite settings.
  3. under content, click javascript.
  4. do click add next to javascript allowed.
  5. type [*.]avast.com and click add .

[*.]avast.com now appears on your list of allowed to use javascript. this means that all web pages with a web address starting with avast.com (such as www.avast.com/store) allow javascript.

mozilla firefox

enable javascript

javascript is enabled for all websites by default in mozilla firefox. If you have disabled javascript using a browser plugin that allows you to customize your javascript settings, you must re-enable javascript using this plugin. If you prefer to enable cookies only for web pages that are part of the avast.com domain, follow the steps below:

  1. Open any web page from the avast.com domain in your browser window (this is any url that has avast.com at the beginning).
  2. click the shield icon to the left of the address bar.
  3. click the blue (on) slider next to Enhanced Tracking Protection is enabled for this site so it will be grayed out (off).

Cookies are now enabled for all web pages that are part of the avast.com domain.

safari

enable javascript

javascript is enabled for all websites by default in safari. If you have manually disabled javascript, please follow the steps below to re-enable it:

  1. make sure the safari window is open and active.
  2. click safaripreferences… on the left side of the apple menu bar.
  3. select the security panel and make sure the checkbox next to enable javascript is checked.

javascript is now enabled for all websites you visit using safari.

enable cookies
