p. I learned a lot from your recent gmail infographic. Turns out I didn’t know as much about gmail as I thought I did. I had no idea to undo send, great!
I also learned that I can change the look of my gmail using themes, but I don’t know how to do it. can you do an article on how to use themes with gmail?
➤ look, how much do you know about gmail? [infographic]
a. sure. If you use Gmail, you can also get the most out of the experience by using themes. Instead of looking at a page without color, you can enrich your experience by choosing an attractive theme or even creating your own. Using a theme is easy and only takes a few steps to turn your gmail into a beautiful and personalized experience.
how to choose a gmail theme
click the gear icon ⚙ in the top right corner of gmail and choose themes from the dropdown menu:
the theme page shows you a variety of options, including color, hd, and classic themes. you can choose serene themes like mountain tops or oceans, or fun themes like candy, ninjas or high score. if you’re feeling especially adventurous, you can choose randomly.
test your new theme for a while. if you don’t like it, try another one. they’re free!
[note]your theme will show up in gmail using your computer. your theme will not show up in email apps or in emails you send to other people. [/note]light versus dark
themes come in two flavors: light and dark. dark themes have, well, a dark background with white font, while light themes have a white background and black font. you can tell if the themes are light or dark by the color in the bottom right corner of the thumbnail icon.
dynamic themes
Some scenery themes are dynamic and change with the time of day and/or the weather. If you enter your location, the theme will display changing scenes like sunrise, sunset, daylight, night, sun, clouds, etc. You can enter your location at the bottom of the theme page to set the theme based on your time and weather.
themes that change have a symbol in the lower right corner of the thumbnail icon:
custom themes
Your choice of themes becomes virtually unlimited if you decide to use a custom theme. Do you want to use your own photo of your adorable children, a cute puppy or a French girl selfie? no problem!
To create a custom theme, choose a custom light or dark theme on the themes page. you can use your photos from your computer or the internet. Google recommends using a photo larger than 2560 x 1920 px.
