Excessive Spam

Is there any way to set Yahoo Mail to empty the Spam folder immediately, automatically when the Spam comes in?

The amount of spam has become extreme. I am in the process phasing out the Yahoo account for this reason, but need to keep it for a period of time. I rarely see any spam in gmail, but am just buried in a onslaught of garbage in the Yahoo account. Source

The amount of spam coming through is absolutely ridiculous

I get around 20 of these spam emails every day. It’s gotten particularly bad over the last week or so. Doesn’t matter how many filters I create or the fact that I report each one as spam, it’s endless.

Edit: in the time it took me to post this, 3 more have come in. Source

The recommendation of Yahoo support team

Reports of the problem reached the Yahoo support team. A member of the company staff recommended that affected users mark junk emails as ‘Spam’ to help the system automatically identify future emails from those sources.

Hi, sorry to hear about this. While most of spam emails are being caught by our spam filters, occasionally some can slip through. When this happens, it’s very important to mark the email as spam, then our system will learn that messages from a specific place are not good and helps us make Yahoo Mail even better at recognizing future spam emails. To speed up the process, you can check the boxes next to all the spam emails previews, instead of marking each individual junk email as Spam after opened.

Also, if you don’t want to wait for the Yahoo mail system to automatically improve its spam detection, you can block all future email from spam sources:

Same here. This past week has been nonstop spam emails.

Here’s what I did:

Mark the email “As Spam”

Go to your spam folder and then check the boxes next to all the spam emails

Click on the three dots and “Block Senders” then click “Ok”

This seems to help keep them at bay for the time being Source
