Back in 2008, former Beatle Ringo Starr begged his fans to stop sending him fan mail in the post.
sir ringo starr has become one of the world’s greatest musicians after rising to fame as a drummer for the beatles in the 1960s.
so we can probably assume that the artist is used to hordes of hysterical fans chasing him.
But while Ringo has performed thousands of shows over the years, it turns out he hasn’t always accommodated his biggest following.

In fact, in 2008, the drummer shared a video on his website in which he banned fan emails from being sent to his address because he was too busy to deal with it.
said at the time: “this is a serious message to everyone watching my update right now, peace and love, peace and love. i want to tell you please after october 20th don’t send fan letters to any address you have.

“nothing will be signed after October 20. if that has the date on the envelope, it will be discarded. I warn you, with peace and love, I have a lot to do.
“So no more fan mail. Thank you thank you – and no objects to be signed. Nothing.
then added: “anyway, peace and love, peace and love.”
The drummer never elaborated on the reason for his decision to cut off contact with his fans.

but after receiving backlash, ringo’s reps said he wasn’t aiming to upset fans, but rather to reduce his carbon footprint.
said in a statement: “This message was not directed at ‘real fans’ and after over 45 years of signing we know they will understand.

“ringo has always signed articles and, in fact, he is the only beatle who has been doing it. Ringo also strongly believes that paper is a waste and that we all need to be aware of our carbon footprint.”
his former bandmate paul mccartney also spoke at the time, saying: “you got the love, ringo. he was the one, if the fans came to his door, he would just say ‘f*** out’. he I would say ‘this is my private life’”.
