what caused this return message?

In the bounce example above, the cause of the problem is that this user has wordpress configured to allow comments on posts. A spammer tried to leave a comment on one of his posts and the wordpress administrator of this site has set his email account to [email protected]. so that’s the address used to submit comment moderation requests. however, that email address does not exist on the remotedomain.com mail server, so it will always fail and cause a recovery error.

Typically, these types of bounce errors are hard bounces, meaning that trying to send the message again will not succeed. you can read our previous article on why email bounces, bounces or fails. for a more detailed explanation of a hard bounce.
