Christmas is less than two weeks away and you don’t have much time to get your gifts in the mail so they arrive in time for the holidays.
This week several shipping deadlines are approaching.
first one is wednesday, but the united states postal service, ups and fedex are telling everyone to get their gifts in the mail ASAP. the sooner you get it in the mail, the more money you’ll save.
It’s the busiest time of year for the USPS, both inside and out.
jack bernardo is getting ahead of the holiday rush by sending a gift to his daughter, who is in the navy stationed overseas.
The sooner you get your packages in the mail, the more likely they will be under your loved one’s tree by Christmas morning.
USPS says they prepared for this peak season in February by hiring and training new workers, preparing for the tens of thousands of packages that pass through the processing plant daily.
james chambers is the postmaster for usps fort myers. He said: “I know that last year we processed about 1.3 billion packages during our peak season nationally. fort myers city, we were 1.3 million. if I were to split our 30 days through that. that’s a lot of packages.”
Wednesday, Dec. 15 is the deadline for retail ground service.
which starts at almost $8 depending on what you send.
December 15th is also the fedex ground deadline, starting at nearly $9 for a padded envelope.
and shipping an extra small box via ups will also cost about $9.
the price only goes up the longer you wait.
