December has begun, which means time is running out if you have a holiday letter or package to send across the country or somewhere else on the planet.

meanwhile, the regular packages should be ready by December. 11.
Letters sent abroad should be on their way by December. 7, while normal packages should already have been sent.

It normally takes up to nine business days for packages sent at regular rates to be delivered outside the province, so Canada Post is adding a day for the holiday season.

xpresspost rates are approximately double the normal cost and priority costs are approximately triple.

If you’re really going to leave it to the last minute, couriers like fedex, dhl and ups can save you as they sometimes have later delivery dates than canada post.
for example, the fedex deadline for ground shipping is December 1st. 9-17 for shipments coast-to-coast between major urban centers and Dec. 22-23 for local and regional.
The last day to ship within Canada is December. 21 with fedex economic and dec. 23 with fedex overnight.

For packages sent by courier to other countries, fedex delivery times are usually later than canada post. terms are comparable for the united kingdom, france and germany.
3400 packets per minute
canada post expects Dec. the 14th will be your busiest delivery day. Spokesperson Anick Losier anticipates that Canada Post will handle 3,400 packages per minute that day.
losier says canada post expects to handle 20 percent more packages than the 36 million they processed last year during november and december. Canada Post makes a quarter of its annual package deliveries during those two months.
losier says that 75 percent of Canadian shoppers who will be making at least some of their purchases online should check the merchant’s shipping information for delivery dates.
