Step 2: Rename and password protect your website

Step 3: Delete Your Website Through Your Host

You’ll need to delete your website through your host for this next step . We’ve collected instructions for deleting your website on Kinsta, WordPress.com, and Google Sites in this section. If you use another provider, you’ll need to refer to their instructions directly.

Kinsta

If you host your website through Kinsta, removing it is an easy process. All you need to do is follow these steps:

  1. Go to “MyKinsta” and click on “Sites”.
  2. Navigate to the website you want to remove and click Click “Delete Site.”
  3. Kinsta will ask you to confirm that it will delete your website with a pop-up. In this pop-up, check the boxes that say “Files and database will be deleted for editwp” and “The files and database in the test environment for editwp will also be removed.”
  4. Enter the name of your website, a hyphen, and the word “live” in this format : “Site Name – Live”.
  5. Click “Delete Site”.

WordPress

If you use WordPress.com or WordPress.org, you can also delete your website by through your WordPress settings directly.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Login to WordPress.
  2. Click “Manage” and then “Settings”.
  3. Scroll down to the at the bottom of the page and click “Permanently delete your site”.
  4. At this stage, WordPress will give you the option to export your website content as a .zip file. If you ever want to restore your website, you can simply re-upload this file.
  5. Click “Delete Site” and enter your website URL in the text box to confirm.
  6. Click “Delete This Site” again to confirm.

If you use WordPress.com, you can also delete your account directly. Deleting your account will remove all sites websites associated with it.To delete your account, please follow these steps:

Step 4: Submit a URL Removal Request

Google allows website owners to remove URLs from the Google search engine via of a URL removal request. To submit a URL removal request, you’ll need to sign in to Google Search Console. Then you need to click on “Deletions” and select “New Request”. That will bring up this screen.

Next, you need to type your URL into the text bar. Select “Remove this URL only” or “Remove all URLs with this prefix”. If you select “Remove all URLs with this prefix”, you can block pages indexed with the same prefix, such as “kinsta.com/resources”.

After choosing your option, click “Next” . and then “Send request.”

Google will review your URL removal request and notify you of the result. It’s important to note that if Google successfully removes your URL from search results, it won’t mark it as spam or put it on a block list. Your website’s SEO won’t be affected either.

Step 5: Submit a removal request to Google
