If you’ve ever wanted to share a list YouTube playback with a friend, you may have realized that there is no direct and easy way to do this.
Anyone would think that clicking the “Share” icon at the bottom of a video within a playlist would work, but it will only take you to the link for that specific video, not the entire playlist.
However, the workaround for sharing a playlist you’ve selected or added to your YouTube library is quite simple and can be done in just a few steps. Once you know how to share a playlist, you can also easily add friends and family as collaborators.
Here’s how to do it.
How to share a YouTube playlist with a link to watch
1. Open your preferred browser and go to https: //www.youtube.com/.
2. Sign in to your YouTube account.
3. Using the menu on the left, scroll to find the name of the playlist you want to share. The playlist icon looks like three horizontal lines with a play icon in the corner.
4. Select the playlist by clicking its name.
5. Find “Edit” next to your YouTube account name and select.
6. This will take you to the backend of the playlist where you can make various changes. At the top of the screen, find the “Share” button and select.
7. Here you can copy the link to the playlist. If it’s an unlisted playlist, only those with the link can see it and it can’t be found via search. You can also copy the link to the embed code by selecting “Embed” from the pop-up menu.

6. Once you’ve changed the playlist from private to unlisted or public, select “Collaborate” at the top.
7. YouTube will generate a link for you to share with family and friends so they can also collaborate on the playlist. Those with the collaboration link will be able to add videos to the playlist.
If you want to remove the privilege for others to add to the playlist, follow the steps above and select “Disable Link” at the bottom of the pop-up screen.
