Connecting GoDaddy Email to Your Gmail Interface – The Liberty Lab

Once your @yourdomain.com email account(s) has been set up through godaddy…

  • if you want to log in via webmail, use this link: http://email.secureserver.net/
  • your username is your email address.
  • login immediately and update the generic password provided to you.
  • once logged in, click on the “email” tab > click the link labeled “settings” > click on the link labeled “personal profile” > change your password.

if you want to receive your email in your gmail account, please follow the instructions below:

The intent of this guide is to provide step-by-step instructions on how to receive email from your godaddy email account to your gmail account. we’ll also set it up so you can send emails using your godaddy email address, and also so that emails automatically reply from the same email address the email was sent to (so you don’t reply to emails godaddy-related emails from your personal or gmail account name). it’s incredibly useful for a variety of reasons.

  1. sign in to gmail (mail.google.com)
  2. click the gear icon (“gears menu”) in the upper right corner of the window
  3. select “mail settings”
  4. under “settings”, choose the “accounts and import” tab
  5. scroll down to the “verify mail using pop3” section and click click “add pop3 email account”
  6. a small applet window will pop up, under “email address”, enter “youremail@yourdomain.com
  7. under “username”, enter “yourmail@yourdomain.com
  8. under “password”, enter the password you use to log in to your email godaddy email in the godaddy webmail app at godaddy.com
  9. the “pop server” should read: pop .secureserver.net
  10. the port field must be 110.
  11. check “leave a copy of the message je retrieved on the server”. checkbox
  12. check the “label incoming messages” checkbox if desired, then click “add account”
  13. check the “label incoming messages: youremail@yourdomain.com
  14. your godaddy email account has been added to gmail check the “yes, I want to be able to send mail as…” radio button and then click “next step>>”
  15. under “name”, type your real name or whatever name you want people to see when you email them from your sponsor’s email address, then click click “next step>>”
  16. select “send via gmail” then click “next step>>”
  17. click “send verification” .now open a new window and sign in to your godaddy email account at godaddy.com through the godaddy webmail app you should have a new email from the “gmail team”. the third block of text in the email should be a long clickable link. click the link and voila! you can now send emails from your godaddy email address and all mail sent to that address will be imported to your gmail account!

sending the @yourdomain.com email from your gmail interface

  1. go back to gmail and log in if you haven’t already. click the “gear icon” (gear menu) in the upper right corner of the window and select “mail settings”
  2. scroll down to the section titled “send mail as
  3. click the link “add another email address you own
  4. select the radio button labeled, ” send via @yourdomain.com smtp servers”
  5. smtp server: smtpout.secureserver.net
  6. port: 465
  7. user: youremail@ yourdomain.com
  8. secure connection via ssl

optional additional steps

auto-reply using the email address the message was sent to (ie it will automatically reply to emails that were sent from your godaddy email with your godaddy email address).

  1. go back to gmail and log in if you haven’t already. click the “gear icon” (gear menu) in the upper right corner of the window and select “mail settings”
  2. scroll down to the section titled “send mail as”. under “when replying to a message”, check “reply from the same address the message was sent to”. your changes (if any) will be saved automatically and… you’re done! now your life is much easier.

more optional (but very useful) steps

control import frequency by manually importing with gmail “refresh” button via google labs.

when importing email from godaddy (or any pop3 based email), gmail will only import mail from that account about once an hour. If you want to be able to update your mailing list and manually import godaddy mail with one click whenever you want, we’ll need to access google labs.

  1. log in to gmail if you haven’t already. click the “gear icon” (gear menu) in the upper right corner of the window and select “labs”
  2. in the “find lab” field, enter “update popup accounts
  3. check the “enable” radio button to the right of the entry and then click the “save changes” button.
  4. in the “find lab”, enter “multiple accounts”
  5. check the “enable” radio button to the right of the entry and then click the “save changes” button.
