IMAP PASSWORD FOR GOOGLEMAIL
I”m having a (new) problem with inputting a password for my Googlemail account in Thunderbird (used in a Mac). First I must admit to being very confused by googlemail v. gmail (I am a pensioner and it is easily done, in my case).I had no problem receiving emails to my googlemail account until recently, when I was asked to input an imap password. I put in all the passwords I could think of, and I”ve just changed my Google account password and put that in as well, to no avail. Nothing seems to work.Googlemail is one of the account I have in Thunderbird, but my google username appears to be XXX
gmail.com.I am totally confused and don”t know what”s what. Can anyone clarify this for me please (I do mean clarify, I won” be able to understand anything too complicated).Somewhere along the line when I was trying to solve this I got an email saying “Google will continue to block sign-in attempts from the app that you”re using because it has known security problems or is out of date. You can continue to use this app by allowing access to less secure apps, but this may leave your account vulnerable.” but obviously I don”t want to have an account which is vulnerable. What should I do? Ideally I would want to have the same password for both, which would save me a lot of trouble. With many thanks.
